A Wide Area Communication Network (WACN) encompasses single or multiple Project 25-compatible Trunking Systems, usually governed by different agencies, that inter-operate together and often cover a wide geographical area. A WACN typically consists of communications equipment from several manufacturers.  Despite these potentially diverse conditions, interoperability and compatibility of radio communications within a WACN are achievable through the Project 25 specifications, and the mutual agreements of the agencies that own the different Trunking Systems within that Network. Motorola ASTRO 25 radios are fully capable of operating within a P25-compatible WACN.
